This modern well equipped chalet is situated on the outskirts of Le Chatelard in a prime position commanding wonderful views of the Massif Des Bauges. Le Chatelard is quite a small village but contains all that would be holiday makers could ask for in terms of a supermarket with fuel, bank, boulangerie, tourist information and it even has a pizza hut! Restaurants are plenty in the area with Les Clarines in the village offering excellent food. This area is particularly good for walkers with ample choices for all abilities, with well signed paths and estimated walking times! Most local walks have written guides and can be found in the chalet and the tourist office. Further afield there is Annecy and Aix Les Bain both less than an hours drive away. The road into Annecy via the Col de Leschaux is a lovely drive but can be improved by taking a left at the col and traversing Mt. Semnoz; this also has the benefit of bringing you directly into Annecy without facing the extremely busy main road by the lake which can be queued for miles. Finally everything about the whole area can be found in a very generous information basket in the chalet along with a great DVD selection for those lazy evenings with a glass of wine. Bonnes Vacances. Thanks once again for a great place to stay. Regards

We had a wonderful week's stay at La Bonne Vie over Easter 2013. The chalet is beautifully appointed, clean and spacious and its location at the heart of the Bauges Massif is superb. We will certainly wish to return.

Hi Ian & Katie, just to let you know, we had a wonderful holiday at La Bonne Vie. It was everything we wanted and more. You have a lovely house there, superbly equipped, beautifully located, well maintained and very, very comfortable. Le Chatelard is a lovely little village, and a great base for exploring the area. We managed lots of walking, lots of swimming, and lots of relaxing. We felt entirely at home. The Sky box was a real bonus, as it allowed us to follow the Olympics when we got home at the end of the day. You know how sometimes you go on holiday somewhere, and everything is perfect - this was one of those holidays. I would be more than happy to return at some point in the not too distant future. I did take a couple of the business cards you left in the house and will happily recommend your house to others. Again, many thanks.

We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week at La Bonne Vie. The view from the chalet was simply spectacular and the range of activities available nearby was fantastic (walking, swimming, climbing, etc). The chalet was very clean and comfortable and conveniently situated close to the village. We found it to be an ideal place for a family holiday. Highly recommended!

With 5 adults staying in the chalet for a week, we were extremely comfortable, and self-catered more than we had expected to do, simply because the chalet was a lovely place to relax at the end of busy days. The views are tremendous even with low cloud skimming the mountainsides. We found plenty to do in the local area and were bowled over by the stunning wildflowers. We were fortunate to meet Ian and Katie the night before Ian did his first Triathlon - brave man! We were also welcomed to the neighbours' street party on a beautiful warm evening with a full moon making its way across the sky and disappearing behind the mountain. The chalet definitely gets a very positive recommendation from all of us.

We stayed at the Chalet for 4 nights in the beginning of June. The Chalet was beautiful. We loved the way the windows were placed in the walls. Looking through them was like looking at a picture. The grass, the mountains, the cowbells all so perfect. The Chalet was adequately equipped. There was a lot of information about the area which was very helpful. All in all a great place. We hope to come again. Thanks

We spent a week in early May 2012 at La Bonne Vie. The weather for the Finns, at least, was very accommodating, getting warmer as the week progressed. Being in between the winter season and the summer season, it was all quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the location and the views very much. The Chatelard village, while quite modest, had the benefit of having the internet at the tourist office, free of charge and even printed copies were cost free, one could set up an office there! In addition to hiking in the nearby mountains, exploring les Garins and les Chargieux, we discovered the Revard plateau, with magnificent views in all directions, all the way to Mont Blanc, and the Aix-les-Bains on the other side lying at the foot of the mountain. Splendid scenery and I am sure very nice for cross-country skiers in winter. The chalet itself was perfect with the terasses on two sides. The tomme les Bauges and the local wines were new discoveries to us, all perfect for taking along the hikes.

We stayed at La Bonne Vie in mid Feb 2012. In short we had a lovely time and the house was perfect, both in situation (at the edge of the village)and in the accomodation it afforded. Ian rang me before we went and was very, very helpful and went out of his way to ensure we were ok. The area is fantastic and if you want to go skiing the local ski resort is perfect for beginners. I have been to many ski resorts and I loved this one, it was cheap, car parking easy and full of variety. Would I stay again, absolutely, wait until you wake up, pull back the curtains and take in the view, breathtaking. This house fully lived up to our expectations in every way and if you love a nice hot bath at the end of a busy day, then this is the place for you. In short 5 star

8/9/11 - 15/9/11 What a wonderful location & lovely chalet. We have had a truly peaceful & restful holiday & enjoyed every minute of it. No children so no need for lots of activities. Lots of local walks and swimming at Lescheraines lake. Well worth a visit to swim & walk around the lakes and beyond. Drove to Les Garins (road oposite the Pharmacy) and from there walked to Col du Planc - fantastic views. We drove south to St. Pierre d'Albigny - an amazing 7km of hairpin bends - worth a visit just for the drive (not for the nervous driver). Annecy Old Town has to be visited - our tip is to park a little away from the old town, due to very narrow streets & congestion, & then walk there. The old town was fascinating. The lake is amazing - we went to Methuan beach, good facilities & the lake is so clean - couldn't resist another dip. Visited Compote & L'Angelus restaurant. The plat du jour was extremely good at 15.50€ each. Wish we had more time to explore the area further. Thanks Katie & Ian, we've had a holiday that we will remember for a long time. The chance to slow down & enjoy the peaceful location has provided a real tonic.

Enjoyed a fabulous two weeks in this chalet. Our two grown up children stayed with us for the first week. Visited Annecy, Lescheraines (for swimming in the lakes). Our son did the mammoth walks, climbing first the mountain in front of the chalet and then another somewhere behind Jarsy! Nick and I did Compote walk and another walk from La Chapelle to la Croix - wonderful views and well worth the climb! We also visited Aix-le-Bain and dined overlooking the Lac. Weather was wonderful - only two nights of rain and thunderstorms but our top temperature hit 35.5°C! Le Chatelard market (Friday mornings) was very good - selection of meats, cheeses, fish, bread, fruit and vegs. Lescheraines (market) disappointing. Hope you enjoy your time as much as we have - would hope to come back sometime to this beautiful area.
